For example, Girard Gibbs served as co-lead counsel in the largest consumer telecommunications class action settlement in history, settling for over $90 million in cash. The lawsuit was brought on behalf of MCI/Worldcom customers who were being improperly charged high rates for direct-dial long distance phone calls.

Girard Gibbs has also had successful results in litigating actions involving deceptive marketing of consumer products. For example, Girard Gibbs served in a leadership role in a successful case for iPod owners over falsely advertising the lifespan of the iPod’s battery.  Girard Gibbs, as court appointed co-lead counsel for the class, negotiated a settlement that provided warranty extensions, battery replacements, cash payments, and store credits for those class members who experienced a battery failure.
