Increased Scrutiny into Non Traded REITs

Girard Gibbs is investigating sales of non-traded REITs in response to investor complaints that they have incurred significant losses, are unsure of the actual value of their shares, and were not told important information about the risks of investing in non-traded REITs. A number of investors are also reporting that that they have been contacted by outside investment companies offering to purchase their REIT investments at drastically low prices.

Recently, FINRA released an alert warning investors of the risks associated with investing in non-traded REITs. The SEC has also increased its scrutiny into non-traded REITs, requesting that investment advisors provide more information about how they value shares.

Girard Gibbs has filed a lawsuit against David Lerner Associates, Inc. on behalf of investors in Apple REITs Eight, Nine, and Ten, alleging that the defendants misrepresented the investment objectives, value, and dividend polices of the REITs.
